The debates continue. To me there may be multiple “Best” Hospital for Cancer Treatment in India. Because of many reasons.
1. In Cancer Treatment what matters most is the skill set of the doctors. As there are many kind of cancers; Breast Cancer, Prostate Cancers, Lung Cancers, Colon Cancers etc, the doctors would also be different. Each doctor will have his own specialization and not all doctors would be present under the same roof. Which means for each different kind of cancer a specific hospital will have the best of doctor’s skill set.
2. The treatment protocols are different. One may need Target Therapy, Chemotherapy, Radiation Therapy or Surgery. Within this there are so many modalities present today. For eg: A pediatric Brain Cancer is best treated with a Proton Therapy and in Many adult Brain Tumour cases, a Cyber Knife is required. Now, we need a good doctor with access to such technology to make a perfect team.
3. Lastly, we need to also see the affordability. At times, there are great hospitals with extremely wonderful technology but are much expensive. Possibly a reason why patients prefer coming to Indian Hospitals rather than going to hospitals in Israel.
With all Variables in mind, I have noted down a preferred list of Hospitals in India for Cancer Treatment. These are Hospitals where patients from all over the world come to get treated. But we do recommend these hospitals on case to case basis and it is not just a blind list!
